"The only difference between the Saint and the Sinner, is that every Saint had a past and every Sinner has a future." - Oscar Wilde
this is such a true statement. we all have sin in our lives, but that does not hold reign on what we are capable of or what we can accomplish, our pasts and our mistakes only have power over us as long as we let them. as soon as we cast off that burden of sin, into the encompassing arms of our Lord can we realize that our loads are truly light in his hands, and our horizons are suddenly broadened.
2Sa 22:33 It is God who arms me with strengthand makes my way perfect.
God has given us the option of relying on him, and in such making our way righteous. Look at all the people in the Bible and throughout history who had big issues in their lives, and look at what God did with them. Samson and his hair, and his final triumph, Jonah and his Witnessing, David and his lechery and murder; where did he end up? as one of the greatest kings ever. the moral of the story kiddos is, dont worry about the past, for we indeed have a future.

that is such an awesome quote...
amazing grace, how sweet the sound...
Also we Should note the importance of repenting and asking for forgiveness.
the best example of that is david, although he committed a sin he always looked towards God for forgiveness and guidance. Followed God's "punishment" for lack of a better word, even if it was hard to bear.
